Donations

We are pleased to announce that we received permission from SARS to issue section 18A donation certificates to our donors. This certificate allows you to claim a deduction on your taxable income (up to 10% of your taxable income) when you submit your tax return to SARS.

For example:

Let’s say you earn R300,000 in taxable income for the year. You decide to donate R20,000 to a registered Section 18A public benefit organisation. Because SARS allows you to deduct up to 10% of your taxable income, you can claim up to R30,000 in donations.

Since your donation is within the allowed limit, you’ll receive a Section 18A certificate for R20,000. When you file your tax return, this amount is deducted from your taxable income, reducing it to R280,000. This means you’ll pay tax on R280,000 instead of R300,000, thus saving you money while supporting a good cause!

If you have made any contributions after 1 March 2025 that you wish to receive a donation certificate for, please complete the online form at https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/d8ek6ZuzD2 or send us an email to donations@kerneelsie.com. We will evaluate the request to make sure it complies all the legal requirements. We will issue certificates twice in a year that cover all your qualifying donations from that period.

If you choose the email option, please include the following information in your email:

- The date and amount of the donation. (We will check this against our accounts for auditing purposes) if you have a proof of payment, it will be helpful, but we will just check our records if you don’t have one.

- Your full names as it appears on your ID

- Your postal Adress

- Your identification type and country of issue

- Your identification or registration number

- Your income tax reference number

- Your contact number

- Your email address

This information is required by SARS, rest assured that the information will be kept confidential and secure in line with the POPI Act. We will also never sell your information to any third party.

We will require your information only once, whereafter we will issue you with a unique donor number to make things easier. For future donation you can simply let us know when you donate and give us your donor number.
